Yuan Jin received her thesis master's degree in Adaptive Reuse and narrative Environments at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). She also did a one-year internship at RISD museum.

Her master thesis is on approaches to display outdoor architectural ruins, which is a combination of exhibition design and heritage protection. In recent years, she has mainly studied the world architectural heritage, as well as the renovation, protection, and display of some historical buildings.

She also received a bachelor and master degree in environmental design from Beijing Institute of Technology.
